Michael Black Reggae

Michael Black is an international roots reggae performing and recording artists from Jamaica. Michael has always had a love for music. In true Rasta words Michael says “I was born to be a singer, God put me here to teach the world about love”.Michael Black currently has several new studio releases.

 He is always performing throughout the United  States and Europe at shows, concerts and festivals promoting his hits and his upcoming works.

In 1970 Michael Black, who was only 17 at that time, wrote, arranged and recorded “Sailor Man” on the Jamburu Label in Jamaica. In 1973 Freddy McKay introduced Michael to the Solid Foundation Band. He ended up singing with them in a show in Mandeville, along with Freddie McKay, Mighty Diamonds, Sonja Spencer and many more. They joined forces and from 1973 until 1977 Michael Black and the Solid Foundation traveled all throughout Jamaica, the Caribbean, Canada and to London. In 1979 Michael Black performed at SunSplash in Montego Bay. Here he performed with some of reggae’s legends such as Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Stevie Wonder and many more. In 1982 Michael relocated to the United States to the Chicago area where he quickly became an integrated part of the Windy City’s thriving reggae scene, performing regularly in area clubs like The Wild Hare, Exodus and Club Dread, Club Negril and at Billy Mulligan’s at the House of Blues. He performed with Burning Spear at Park West.He was honored numerous times by Marlin Intercultural Music Awards, including the Best Male Vocalist, Best Showmanship and the Best CD of the Year. Over the years Michael Black has been instrumental in helping many young artists in Chicago with their careers in the reggae music industry. In 2002 Michael Black toured throughout Europe with The Maleo Reggae Rockers. While in Poland they performed to an audience of 300,000 people at Woodstock 2002. In 2006 Michael Black relocated to Las Vegas, NV and debut at The Icehouse. Michael closed out the summer at The House of Blues with Summer Fever. He has performed every year since 2006 by the Annual Rock N Roll Wine in Las Vegas, NV. In 2008 Michael performed with the Jah Guide Band at Puff Nightclub in Las Vegas, NV launching a Caribbean Reggae Sunday and at Reggae in the Desert. In 2011 Michael Black performed at The Lafayette Reggae Culture Festival in Lafayette, LA where he has also performed numerous times before.Michael Black will is in high demand, and is available Worldwide, so book your shows, concerts and festivals early.
